NRW Management & Construction Supervision Consultants for Greater Colombo Water and Wastewater Management Improvement Investment Programme
The city of Colombo covers an area of 37km2 and the pipe network is almost 1000km long. Almost 95% of the city is connected to the pipe network, but the problems are many and varied: water pressure is very low, the water supply is not continuous and water losses, at around 49%, are very high, with only an estimated 39% due to technical losses. In addition, the pipe network is over 50 years old over a length of about 700 km, and in the city centre it is even partly over 100 years old.
Project objectives:
To increase access to water supply (the availability of water supply) and improve its efficiency.
To reduce water losses (NRW) from 49% to 18% by 2020.
Introduce long-term, sustainable processes to reduce water losses.
Building institutional, operational and management capacity at the client's site.
SETEC is responsible for NRW Management and Design Review.
